Liquefied natural gas (LNG)

Mott MacDonald is one of the world's leading experts in LNG development. With gas consumption world-wide forecast to grow significantly and limitations on developing gas transmission lines, the spotlight is falling on LNG as an environmentally sound, economically acceptable and technically viable way of transporting gas over great distances.

We have extensive experience in the planning, design, construction and supervision of LNG storage facilities, plus the design of jetties, pipelines, handling, pumping and compression. We understand the technical, commercial, economic, legal, social and political issues associated with LNG development and can see projects successfully from concept to completion.

We’re conversant with international codes for LNG facilities plus all safety requirements. Our engineers are experienced in the specification of materials for arduous duty and understand NACE and refinery codes and standards and cryogenic properties covering the complete LNG supply chain. Fire and safety aspects and knowledge of pipeline operation are integrated in our service.

We co-sponsored the first LNG Conference in London, called ‘LNG – the UK Supply Chain’ conference, set up by the DTI in Whitehall in October 2005. The event brought together key players interested in the UK's LNG expertise.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)

Mott MacDonald has over 40 years’ experience in the LPG industry. We’re recognised advisors on the regulatory and market aspects of LPG and our specialist knowledge of technologies and markets has been acknowledged by the UK Competition Commission.

We provide services across the full spectrum of the LPG supply chain and have the capability to review, design and engineer LPG facilities. We have completed various projects in the LPG industry which have involved reviewing and developing technical standards for production, storage, filling, transportation, distribution and auto-refuelling stations.

Our experts are experienced in the specification of materials for arduous duty and are familiar with NACE and individual oil company standards including LPG import and export, handling, storage, processing and re-gasification. Fire and safety aspects, controls and our familiarity with pipeline operation are integrated to ensure that a completely satisfactory service is provided.

Compressed natural gas (CNG)

Mott MacDonald has a strong history with the planning, design and construction supervision of a wide variety of CNG facilities. Our ability to provide the all the necessary engineering in-house gives us a unique advantage. We can address all the design aspects of CNG including jetties, transportation and shipping, handling and storage.
