Mott MacDonald have been involved in various projects in the
emirate of Fujairah.
Fujairah is one of the world's most important bunker regions and
incorporates the United Arab Emirates ports of Khor Fakken to the
north and Kalba to the south. Although no official figures exist,
the Fujairah market is estimated to trade approximately 12 million
metric tonnes of oil, oil product and bunker fuel per annum. Mott
MacDonald has been contracted to various clients to fulfil a
multitude of projects in the Fujairah area.
For 'Port of Fujairah' we completed supervision of installation of
pipe rack structures and eight 16” loading arms on the Oil Tanker
Berths (OTB) and completed designs and floated tenders for
multi-product multi-user manifolds at the OTB.
For the Government and Port of Fujairah, we submitted the technical
part of our feasibility study for a potential
1,000,0000m3 multi-product multi-user storage terminal
within the port. In addition, we started our review of tenders
received for the proposed south breakwater berths in the port. The
new port expansion project has been designed to accommodate the new
generation of larger container ships.
We also completed designs and tender documents for product piping
to the berths for local oil companies EMARAT and Gulf Petrol
Supplies (GPS), as they will also be using the OTB. For GPS we also
provided designs for two additional storage tanks and pumping
facilities.
In addition, as the first spin-off from our contacts with Fujairah
International Trading Company (FITCO), we started surveys and
designs of infrastructure works for a new quarry explosives factory
for FITCO’s partner Emirates Explosives (EMEX) in a remote
mountainous area of Fujairah emirate. This allows them to relocate
from Dubai to serve the burgeoning rock quarrying and crushing
industry in Fujairah.
